SPARC Research, a growing engineering services company, is strategically expanding its geographic footprint to support continued business growth and access to new opportunities and markets. Enabled in part by a grant awarded to the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) through the George C. Edwards Fund, SPARC has established an engineering and management office in Western Maryland.
Tom Moore, Vice President of SPARC and Site Manager for the new location, shared the company’s enthusiasm about the expansion:
“With five local employees already on board, we’re excited to establish our presence in the beautifully restored Rosenbaum Building, located in Cumberland’s Historic City Center. We are committed to hiring and developing local STEM talent by partnering with West Virginia University, Frostburg State University, and Allegany College of Maryland—particularly through its Western Maryland Works facilities and makerspace.”
The establishment of SPARC West marks a significant milestone in our company’s long-term strategy to invest in regional innovation hubs and support workforce development. SPARC looks forward to deepening its collaboration with the CEDC, contributing to the economic vitality of the region, and supporting the local community. SPARC is a proud sponsor of the 2025 Scouts at Work summer camp at Camp Potomac, where Scouts have the opportunity to participate in immersive STEM-related merit badge activities including Engineering, Robotics, and Archaeology.
