Angel brings a unique blend of academic and hands-on experience to her role as SPARC Research’s first Program Engineer—a position she has helped shape during her six years with the company. Her path to SPARC began in the classroom, teaching physics at Brigham Young University–Idaho, where she studied with an emphasis in astrophysics and was selected to serve as her graduating class’s convocation speaker. Angel’s current position at SPARC requires her to strike a balance between technical and programmatic responsibilities as she continues along a career development path with multiple leadership opportunities.
While at BYU–Idaho, Angel balanced her studies and research on Active Galactic Nuclei with a strong commitment to outreach. She managed the university’s observatory and planetarium, sharing the wonders of the night sky with students and the surrounding community, and co-founded the university’s Women in Physics Society to encourage and support other women in the field.
Outside of work, Angel enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, experimenting with Asian-inspired cooking, and playing and writing music on the guitar.
